The Dermabrasion Approach

For instance, dermabrasion is an effective technique used rid the skin of the appearance of scars. The technique simply involves removing and getting rid of the top layer of skin where the scar or blemish is located. The process is done by an electrical machine. The machine gently erodes away the top layer of the skin exposing the second layer underneath it. Recovery time can take up to seven days after the procedure is done. After about a week the area will heal and eventually appear much smoother and free of blemishes.

The Dermal Injection Approach

Dermal injections are meant to help fill in these dips in order to create a much smoother surface on the skin. Overtime the body loses collagen. Doctors will place these injections underneath the skin as a replacement of the collagen. This method is also good to temporarily relieve the skin of wrinkles and lines. The method however is not everlasting, and will last for about six months or less.

The Laser Approach

One of the most popular surgical acne scar removal methods involves using a specialized laser to help repair the skin. This method involves intense light to remove the skin that is damaged. A similar laser may also be used in cases where the damaged skin is slightly raised. Either way the laser will lightly vaporize the exposed layer of skin. A new layer of skin will eventually grow and create a smoother look.
